India CCUS Knowledge Hub

Policy analysis, sector exposure assessments, technology deep-dives, country case studies, and financing guides β€” curated by NCM's advisory team to inform decision-makers across India's industrial, government, and investor communities.

About This Hub

Practical Intelligence for India's CCUS Decision-Makers

The NCM Knowledge Hub is a structured repository of analytical content produced by NCM's advisory team β€” covering the policy, commercial, technological, and financial dimensions of CCUS deployment in India. Unlike general-purpose CCUS information resources, every piece of content in the Knowledge Hub is calibrated to India's specific industrial structure, regulatory environment, and investment landscape.

Content in the Knowledge Hub is organised into five categories: Policy Tracker (live status of India's CCUS-relevant regulations, carbon market rules, and international agreements); CBAM Sector Exposure (detailed analysis of which Indian industrial sectors face the highest EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism liability and what CCUS investment is required to protect market access); Technology Deep-Dives (technical analyses of specific capture, storage, and utilisation technologies at the depth required for feasibility study inputs); Country and State Case Studies (detailed profiles of international CCUS programmes and Indian state-level CCUS landscapes); and Funding and Finance Guides (accessible overviews of the DFI instruments, climate funds, and commercial finance structures available for Indian CCUS projects).

The Knowledge Hub is updated by NCM's advisory team as policy, technology, and market conditions evolve. NCM clients receive advance notification of significant updates and access to the underlying research that supports published analyses. Government and regulatory stakeholders engaging with NCM on India's CCUS framework development are invited to contribute to and validate Knowledge Hub content in their areas of responsibility.

Featured Resources

Two Deep-Dive Knowledge Hub Documents Available Now

The India CCUS Policy Tracker and the CBAM Sector Exposure Analysis are the two most frequently accessed Knowledge Hub resources β€” providing the policy and commercial context that every CCUS project developer, industrial client, and government stakeholder needs before engaging with NCM's advisory services.

The Policy Tracker gives a live picture of where India's CCUS regulatory landscape stands today β€” which instruments are in force, which are in draft, which are in consultation, and what timeline NCM projects for each. For project developers, this is the single most important strategic document for determining when to progress from pre-feasibility to FID: the availability of storage permits, carbon credit registration, and CBAM compliance documentation all depend on the policy instruments tracked here.

The CBAM Sector Exposure Analysis translates the abstract EU regulation into concrete financial numbers for each Indian industrial sector β€” quantifying the annual CBAM liability at current EU ETS prices, identifying which companies within each sector are most exposed, and mapping the CCUS investment required to protect EU market access. For industrial clients with European export revenue, this document provides the financial justification for CCUS investment that makes the business case to boards and lenders.

India CCUS Policy Tracker
Live status of 20+ policy instruments across carbon market, storage regulation, CBAM, and international agreements. Updated quarterly by NCM's regulatory advisory team.
CBAM Sector Exposure Analysis

Technology Deep-Dives β€” Active
Post-combustion PCC licensor comparison, Deccan Traps basalt characterisation update, blue hydrogen cost trajectory β€” three technical deep-dives currently in production by NCM's technical team.
Country Case Studies β€” Available
Australia (Gorgon, COβ‚‚CRC), Norway (Sleipner, Northern Lights), UK (Net Zero Teesside, HyNet), Netherlands (Porthos), Germany (thyssenkrupp Carbon2Business), Denmark (Greensand).
